    The Columbus State University Cougars compete in the Peachbelt Conference, which includes other colleges and universities from Georgia and the Carolinas. Columbus State offers intercollegiate teams in baseball, golf, basketball, cross country, tennis, softball, women’s soccer, cheerleading, and dance. The Cougar golf team has fared well in recent years, producing the second place golfer overall in the Peachbelt Conference for 2004. The golf team has also won six Division II national championships in its history. The men’s basketball team finished their 2003 season with a record of 27-5 overall and 16-3 in conference play, with an undefeated 11-0 record in conference play at home. The Lady Cougars basketball team performed slightly better, with an overall record of 28-4 and a conference record of 17-2, also producing an 11-0 record at home when playing conference opponents. The Columbus State baseball program has produced players that have gone on to sign with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and other Major League Baseball Teams. In the most recent season, the Cougars baseball team had a record of 33-20 overall, with a 15-14 record in conference play. In 2004 the Cougars won the South Atlantic Region baseball championship and also made a trip to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship.

    Columbus State University is an NCAA Division II School. Teams compete in the Peach Belt Conference. Men’s sports include baseball, golf, basketball, cross country, and tennis. Women’s sports include basketball, cross country, tennis, softball, and soccer. The sports teams are supported by a spirit squad, which includes cheerleaders and a dance team. The team nick-name is the Cougars.

    Athletic facilities at Columbus State University include several different golf courses, a baseball field and stadium, the Lumpkin Center indoor arena, and a softball field.
